School Nurse Office

The first six weeks has ended and we are moving right into fall. Please make note of a few things:

Flu Shot Clinic
This Friday is the FLU SHOT CLINIC at McAnally - Info came home through parent email groups and paper (see separate post on info)
Medications
Remember to complete a medication form for your child to have OTC medications at school. The medication needs to be in the original container and cannot be expired. Medication in baggies is not accepted. On prescriptions medications, please have your doctor complete an order/med form and and either fax or deliver with medication to school. A pharmacy label is NOT a physician's order.
PE Notes
PE notes needs to come from home for any injuries/illnesses that happen at home. Any injuries/illnesses that happen at school, the nurse office will write a note.
Medication Drop-Off & Appointments
Remember, McAnally would like for you to drop off medications through the Front Office, please.
If you have wondered about having a time to speak with the nurse, please let me know and I can schedule a time  that you can talk with me before school. I have appointments at 800, 810, and 820. This allows me to be able to talk to you privately without interruption and protect confidentiality. During the school day, the nurse office is often busy as I care for the students of McAnally Intermediate. Please call or email and I will set you a time up before school you can come see me.
Shots - 6th grade info
If your child has their 11-12 year old shots, please ask to get a copy you can provide to McAnally Intermediate. Some of you have already done this.
The shots are entered electronically. If your child is a 6th grader, these students need the following shots before they can enter 7th grade and that is something you will want to think about.
***Tdap booster – 1st Meningococcal (also called MCV4)***
Backpacks

You can send items like deodorant, girl’s toiletries, contact solution in your student’s backpacks. These are all items that boys and girls this age start to learn to use as part of growing up. Remember, 5th/6th graders do not change clothes in PE and if they get hot, they may need deodorant after PE. It can be carried in the backpacks and used if needed

Medications/Forms

In order for the nurse office to give out medication to students, remember to complete a med form for all over the counter medications and send to McAnally. For all prescription medications, a doctor will need to send an order. Remember, Benadryl/Hydrocortisone creams and Neosporin cannot be given in the nurse office without being sent to school and with a medication form signed. containing products as well as Pepto Bismol require a doctors order and cannot be given without an order from a doctor. Medications can only be accepted in their original container per district policy. At the end of the school year, medications must be picked up or they will be destroyed.

Thanks,

Mrs. Creed
